Vegetarian grilling

Vegetarisches Grillen

Summer is here and with it the season to roast tasty appetizers together on the grill. Although some may think so, a vegetarian diet does not exclude anyone from participating in a barbecue party. On the other hand! It's the colorful vegetarian dishes for the grill that add variety to the plates, and the biggest lovers of meat dishes will happily reach for the vegetable snacks from the trays. Here are some of our suggestions on what to prepare for a vegetarian barbecue.

Which cheeses on the grill?

While not all cheeses can be put straight on the grill, the possibilities of a vegetarian diet are impressive. Starting with Highlander Oscypek cheese, preferably accompanied by tartar sauce or cranberry, ending with French blue cheese. You can make balls of Italian mozzarella à la shish kebab by layering them with cherry tomatoes. Try semi-hard cheeses like Cyprus halloumi with honey. And the Camembert… Well, I think that needs no further explanation.

Attention! Before buying cheese, check if it contains animal rennet, which excludes it from the vegetarian list.

Vegetables and mushrooms perfect for the grill

You can grill virtually any vegetable, both hard and soft, like tomatoes, but they need a little extra attention while they're on the grill. For those who are skeptical about veggies and what a veggie grill is in general, we recommend preparing the veg marinade ahead of time. Its composition must include: good olive oil or other vegetable fat, garlic, paprika (sweet, hot or smoked) and salt or soy sauce. You can also find ready-made mixes for grilling on the market, but look for those with a lower salt content. In the marinade prepared in this way, you can bread mushrooms, peppers, zucchini, oyster mushrooms and just about anything that comes to mind. Another great patent is grilled corn with chili, on which you can then melt some organic butter.

Cruelty-free burgers, sausages and steaks - should you buy them?

By eating a plant-based diet, we don't have to give up our favorite foods. In the shops we can find many meat substitutes that just come from year to year. Spicy and white sausages, black pudding, pea or soy protein chops, and steaks deceptively similar to meat... Just remember these are highly processed products, and burger chops can be made at home. You can find plenty of ideas and inspiration on popular blogs promoting plant-based cooking. Discover!

Which dips are best for grilled food?

Plain yoghurt is a great base for all kinds of dips. Add dill, fresh coriander, mint or parsley, acidify slightly with lemon juice or vinegar and season to taste. You can make colorful guacamole with avocado, garlic and tomatoes and red salsa with grilled peppers and tomatoes.

What to do for dessert

A vegetarian diet doesn't have to be full of sacrifices. If you have room for dessert after a feast of dairy, vegetables, and protein, make it with fruit. As with vegetables, you are only limited by your imagination. Go for tried-and-true combinations like banana and chocolate or apple and cinnamon, or try something completely new – pineapple with chili or watermelon drizzled with lime juice.

As you can see, a vegetarian diet in no way limits our gastronomic options. On the contrary, she makes it!
