Oxalic acid, also known as ethanedioic acid and hydrated oxalic acid (dihydrate), is a product used primarily to remove rust. In electrical engineering, it is an aid in the electrolytic oxidation of aluminum (anodizing). In chemistry, it is used in titration analysis; it is a reference substance for adjusting the titer of oxidizing solutions. It is also used to remove ink stains. In dyeing and powder industries, it is used to clean sanitary facilities. It is also used in carpentry to brighten and restore wood.
