What is Ground Elder?
Ground Elder [Latin:
Aegopodium podagraria] is a plant from the celery family. The name
derives from gout. It naturally occurs in Europe,
Asia, and Siberia. In Poland, it is a wild plant that mainly grows in forests and thickets
along rivers. It prefers nitrogen-rich soils. It spreads very quickly, which is why
it is often considered a weed. What does Ground Elder look like? The stem grows up to
meters high and its white flowers form expansive umbels.
