Coconut flakes are made from the pulp of the (copra) coconut fruit. This tree is usually found in countries in the tropics. For example in some Asian countries and in New Zealand. To develop, it needs not only high temperatures, but also high humidity, regular rainfall and access to sunlight. Interestingly, coconut trees are most commonly found on tropical beaches. They are what we most associate with the paradisiacal image of tourist islands. This tree usually attains impressive sizes and can grow up to 30 meters tall. The leaves of this tree also arouse admiration. They are 4 to 6 meters long and about 90 centimeters wide. However, the most important thing about the coconut palm is its fruit. Round nuts that can weigh up to 2.5 kilograms. They are covered with a dark brown, waterproof shell. Also, they contain a layer of milk, which is widely used in both the food and cosmetics industries.
However, the inside of the coconut fruit is the tastiest and healthiest. Coconut water is full of valuable electrolytes, the consumption of which can ensure our well-being even in high heat. In addition, the coconut hides an aromatic pulp, which is used to make the popular oil, as well as coconut chips and shavings. It is worth knowing that coconut products are not only delicious, but also full of nutrients, vitamins and minerals that are valuable for your health. At this point, medium-chain (MCT) fatty acids deserve special attention, which have been attracting attention from experts in the field of diet therapy and healthy nutrition for years. In addition, grated coconut is a veritable treasury of minerals, among which we can distinguish: magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, iron and calcium. Both shavings and other coconut-based products are a great source of B vitamins (including: thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, and folic acid — necessary for proper baby development in the womb) em>.
The coconut shrimp are small and appear as thin strips. They are characterized by a white or cream color and a fluffy consistency. What distinguishes coconut flakes is, above all, their unique taste and aroma, which perfectly complements the taste of both sweet desserts and dry dishes.
