Yerba mate, also called mate tea, erva mate or caá mate, is a Paraguayan drink known for helping you lose weight, lowering the level of "bad" cholesterol, improving blood circulation and having energizing properties. Yerba came to Europe thanks to the Jesuits as early as the 17th century, but it is only now that it is gaining the recognition it deserves and a place in the public consciousness. Yerba mate is made from dried, ground leaves and sticks of Paraguayan holly, which is characterized by high levels of caffeine and vitamins - A, Group B, C - and mineral salts - calcium, magnesium, zinc, silicon, iron and potassium .
