Superfood – definition and origin

As we have already mentioned, the term “superfood” (or the plural form that appeared above) was introduced into official circulation in 1998. At that time, Aaron Moss used it, describing for the journal “Nature Nutrition” organic foods that are characterized by exceptional properties that affect the functioning of the human body, strengthening it and effectively cleansing it of harmful substances.

It should be noted, however, that there is no single, specific definition of this term, although the simplest is that "superfood" is simply a superfood, extremely rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. The effect of consuming products that fall into this category is therefore a better mood, which is accompanied by a good overall physical condition.

What is superfood?

It's impossible to create a single, coherent list of superfoods, but it's worth mentioning those products that appear most frequently on such lists and are also the most popular. These include, for example: goji berries and acai berries, quinoa , coconut water, flax seeds, amaranth , chia seeds, green barley, rockrose, and walnuts.
