Erythrit 500g - VIVIO
Erythritol (Erythrit) is one of the most commonly chosen sweeteners by people with diabetes, overweight, and obesity. It resembles conventional sugar in taste and appearance. However, in terms of its health properties, it differs significantly from it. It is low in calories and promotes oral health.
Erythritol, like xylitol and mannitol, belongs to the group of sugar alcohols (so-called polyols). This chemical is characterized by its low calorie content and low glycemic index (equal to 0). This means it does not cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels. Erythritol occurs naturally in certain fruits (e.g., pears or grapes), pollen, mushrooms, seafood, seaweed, lichens, and fermentable beverages (e.g., wine). The present product is obtained by synthesis from waste glycerin using yeast.
Erythritol resembles conventional household sugar in taste and appearance. However, it is characterized by slightly lower sweetness. It is estimated to have about 60% or even 70% of the sweetness of sugar. Additionally, consuming this product leaves a pleasant and slightly cooling sensation in the mouth.
Erythritol is not synthesized by the human body, meaning it is excreted unchanged in the urine. Therefore, its consumption has no negative effects on the digestive system. It is also worth knowing that erythritol, due to its taste and sweetness similar to conventional sugar, can be a valuable element in preventing tooth decay in children and adults. Furthermore, erythritol has an antioxidant effect. This means it protects the body from the harmful effects of free radicals.
