One of the most important micronutrients that significantly supports the functioning of the body is magnesium. A balanced diet should cover the daily requirement for this element. On the other hand, people whose daily menu does not contain enough of this micronutrient, or who consume a lot of coffee, do intensive sports or are exposed to constant stress, etc., can struggle with a deficiency. In such a situation, in addition to changing bad eating habits, it is also worthwhile to take special preparations, such as magnesium in powder form or in the form of tablets.

Natural sources of magnesium

Magnesium is a very important mineral that supports the work of the whole organism, including supports immunity and the work of the nervous system. People who suffer from a deficiency can have problems with concentration, proper sleep, brittle hair and nails, or complain about constant tiredness and a bad mood. To prevent this, it is worth paying attention to a balanced and magnesium-rich diet.

This element is found in many raw fruits and vegetables, as well as in whole grain products. It is definitely worth including in your diet a large amount of sorrel, spinach, kale, arugula, beetroot, parsley, various legumes, as well as bananas, apples and oranges. A large amount of magnesium is also found in buckwheat, oatmeal, brown rice or rye bread, etc. Anyone suffering from magnesium deficiency should also supplement their diet with nuts (e.g. walnuts, hazelnuts, cashew nuts or almonds), seeds (e.g. sunflower seeds), chia, flaxseeds) and seeds (especially pumpkin seeds). In addition, it should not be forgotten that dark chocolate is one of the most pleasant associations with magnesium due to its high cocoa content.

Despite the fact that this important element is present in many foods, it should be remembered that chemical fertilization of the soil can reduce its amount. The situation is similar with highly processed foods with various preservatives. In addition, a healthy and balanced diet based on products from controlled organic cultivation does not rule out a magnesium deficiency. Eating, including excessive amounts of fat, coffee, tea, etc., as well as constant stress and exhaustion of the body can lead to this.

Magnesium in tablets

Magnesium in tablets cannot be used as a substitute for a balanced diet, but only as a supplement to it. However, you should always check the content of the element in the preparation to make sure how many tablets should be taken in a day. It is worth taking each dose with a meal and then drinking plenty of water. Magnesium tablets are also available in combination with vitamins, especially B6 or D3, as well as other micronutrients such as zinc or calcium.

Other forms of magnesium intake

In addition to tablets and capsules, there are other ways to supply this important element to the body. One of the most popular forms is magnesium powder, which is valued, among other things, by too high digestibility. It is enough to mix the amount of the preparation recommended on the label with water and drink it with a meal.

Another form is magnesium chloride flakes for external use, used during magnesium baths or foot baths. On its basis, you can prepare or buy ready-made magnesium oil, which should also be applied directly to the skin. This preparation has a neutralizing effect on unpleasant odors, which is why it is often used as a substitute for deodorants, and also supports the skin tightening process.

Magnesium is not just magnesium ...

When choosing the right product, you should pay attention not only to the amount of magnesium, but above all to the combination of this element. It is worthwhile to rely on organic salts, as these are characterized by high bioavailability. It is therefore worthwhile to use citrine or lactate, for example, as their bioavailability is around 90%.
